70% of people that have a loved one in prison access no outside agency help in relation to the situation they now find themselves in.

The impact of imprisonment on a family is long lasting and far reaching.

The Visitor Centre at HMP Shotts is here to provide support, information & advice to families that have been impacted by imprisonment of a loved one. Visitor Centre Staff have a range of organisations that we work alongside to support the families that have a loved one in prison.

We recognise the anxieties and worries associated with visiting your loved one in prison, and we aim to provide confidential support in a warm and welcoming environment.

Research

Families Outside produces and disseminates research reports from industry experts that analyse specific topic areas affecting families. Topics include health, education, and finance and provide professionals and policy makers with the knowledge and tools to make direct change in their specific roles.
