GBT offers a mini bus service to all non-profit making groups. (Schools, Voluntary groups, Churches, Youth Groups etc).

Please note this service is not a self drive hire service all services come with a fully qualified Pats and Midas trained driver.


GBT Community Transport Operates under Section 19 Community Bus Permit and is a non profit making organisation.

Using our Community Transport Service


GBT Community Transport is available for all non-profit making community groups such as; schools, chruches, sports clubs and voluntary organisations.


All Transport bookings through this service include, a fully qualified driver, insurance, and fuel.


Getting Better Together Community Transport currently operate with;


4x --------- 16 seater minibus with wheelchair access

1x --------- 12 seater minibus with wheelchair access

1x ---------   8 seater MPV

1x ---------   7 Seater MPV with wheelchair access


GROUP PRICES


Annual Membership = £35


Booking fee per journey = £15


£25 per journey up to 30 miles


£42 per journey up to 50 miles


£1.10 per mile per journey (after 50 miles)



All GBT vehicles are fully maintained to the highest standard.


GBT Community Transport is only permitted to charge in order to recoup running costs. We are a member of the Community Transport Association, West of Scotland Community Transport Network and North Lanarkshire Community Transport Consortium.

Free St Andrews Hospice Airdrie bus service

GBT with St Andrews Hospice

currently run a 7 day a week timetable service leaving from:


                                             -  flowerhill carpark


                                             - via drummgelloch railway station car park


                                             - and to Wester Moffat hospital


Operating between - 6.35 AM - 22.10 PM


THIS IS A FREE SERVICE IT IS ALSO OPEN TO VISITORS.

GBT Volunteer Driving Service


This Free Service is for people over the age of 65 who have difficulty in accessing transport and attending their appointments but are not eligible for transport from the ambulance service. They may not have thier own car, no access to public transport or live too far away from their clinic to walk. Patients will be referred to the Volunteer Driver Service by a health professional in their area. (Doctor, Nurse, housing, carer).

Volunteer Drivers Wanted!



If you are interested in driving minibuses or assisting with minibuses as a volunteer please contact GBT.


Fully certified MiDAS training is available and if you would like to volunteer but cannot drive how about training as a passenger assistant? To help assist people safely to the minibus from their homes and back again. 


There are opportunities as part of our Volunteer Driver Programme to support older people getting to medical appointments. Expenses are paid to Drivers of 45 pence per Mile when using their own car.


Full training will be given and PVG check organised by GBT.

Please note all vehicles must have current road tax, insurance and MOT if applicable.


There are also other volunteering opportunities through-out North Lanarkshire with other Community Transport Organisations as part of the North Lanarkshire Community Transport Consortium.
